This is such a good statement: “Rather than actively pursuing truth, they’re actually just passively absorbing a lie and they don’t even really realize it.” And Matt you’re so right that that creates a brick wall in people’s brains. It’s happening on so many fronts right now.
Regarding the evidence people think they’re hearing when in reality they’re just hearing an interpretation of the evidence - I also say when arguing the flat earth with people that any
“facts” they throw at me (i.e. scientific ‘facts’ that cannot be tested and proven by a normal person) are provided by the very same people who are propagating the lie, so how can they even be considered evidence of or arguments for anything.

Exactly - people don't know what evidence is. Their "evidence" is more of an appeal to authority, or assuming scientists did all the research, so that they don't have to figure out anything themselves.
