I have met a few Secret Service agents (mainly when working at a store in which counterfeit bills were passed; counterfeiting is the SS's main focus). These men and womyn (not quite women, are they) are highly-trained and -skilled professionals who take their work very seriously. Just to even qualify for SS, one has to have a Master's Degree along with a clean criminal record; and most of them are ex-military and/or police. It is a very desirable job. They are proud to have it.
So try to convince me that these people -- who literally train for this very thing, protecting the President and other high-government officials, and who are extremely dedicated -- are going to allow a 20 year-old kid with a rifle no 20 year-olds have to climb a ladder in full view of multiple onlookers, get into position while under direct sniper surveillance, and squeeze off a few rounds at Trump? And then only wing his ear? And then the kid is conveniently, finally, topped (again, in glorious color)?
I would submit to you that the reason any of the agencies present there, including the local cops, publicly complain about being told to stand down is to help conceal the fact they already knew nobody was about to be shot, just like in Uvalde and other alleged school shootings. If this was an actual event, you know as well as me these macho golems would not hesitate to be heroes, it is very much a raison d'etre for them. Cops would be gassing and smashing. Did they?

This ought not be a big deal, as Trump switched parties and affiliations back in 2012. But it only goes to show there is no two-party system, only the one which controls both sides. So it is perhaps natural for Trump to have Vance for his VP: he too is being groomed for greatness.
Add it all together, it comes out to a wonderfully-needed distraction from Biden, and good drama diversion from how the D's are stealing everything that is not nailed down before they go quietly to Pedo Island. And everybody hates Summer reruns. This was pure entertainment done by those who run the entire industry.
