There’s only one story that matters this week: the terminal stages of a nearly century long campaign to empty a people from their land has finally begun. Israel’s security cabinet has approved a plan to seize Gaza City — the gateway to full occupation — with “evacuation” orders aimed at roughly a million civilians. Call it what it is: ethnic cleansing disguised as crowd control. Trump’s statement this week seals the deal: “that’s going to be pretty much up to Israel” is a de facto rubber stamp — and the only honest question left is the one no spokesperson will answer: where, exactly, are these millions supposed to go?

Leaked Israeli cabinet minutes show Netanyahu spiked a ceasefire/hostage package and used starvation as leverage “to force surrender,” over the objections of his own security chiefs. Fresh displacement orders for Gaza City and Khan Younis are simply the administrative face of the same policy, and even senior IDF figures are signaling misgivings about this gambit’s costs. The now internationally recognized mass starvation in Gaza was never an accident of war but the chosen lever to break Palestinian resistance: a gross violation of international law and a crime against humanity.
