The Epstein saga shows no signs of cooling down, and this week, Ghislaine Maxwell’s testimony and immunity deal has thrown more fuel on the fire. The notion that she’s suddenly cooperating with the Justice Department about “100 different people” connected to Epstein only highlights what a sham her previous prosecution was. The charges and prosecution were clearly designed to avoid issues such as this, so we must skeptically evaluate the sudden desire to investigate Epstein’s business associates by the DoJ. Given the history of this case, I would be very surprised if this is not another ruse to provide legal cover and immunity to the perpetrators — perhaps even paving the way for a commuting of Ghislaine’s sentence. Meanwhile, the revelations about Trump’s appearance in the Epstein files aren’t a bombshell if you’ve been following my work on Trump. Predictably, attempts to unseal the Epstein grand jury testimony were denied — as Trump & Bondi almost assuredly knew would be the case given the law around releasing such testimony. They promise feasts and deliver only famine.
On the international stage, the situation with Iran continues to spiral, just as anticipated. Trump’s claim that he obliterated Iran’s nuclear assets has proven to be another empty boast. While the White House and the Department of Defense continue to push this narrative, Iran’s nuclear program presses on largely undisturbed. Meanwhile, the ultra-Orthodox community in Israel has adopted a messianic interpretation of the ongoing conflicts, with spiritual leaders now openly declaring Prime Minister Netanyahu as the Messiah. For all the rhetoric around the fanaticism of Iran, it’s the shift towards apocalypticism amongst the highest echelons of Israel’s government that continues to shape the Middle East’s future in profound ways.
