From deals to deception, this week’s news haul is anything but dull.
In international news, Trump and Putin talked potential peace deals for Ukraine in a lengthy phone call. Domestically, revelations of Pentagon contracts earmarked for “large scale social deception” should shock none of my readers at this point. While much has been made of the “sweeping” bureaucratic purge led by Elon Musk this week, federal work force cuts are still in the single digits percentage wise.
Yet nothing looms larger than Trump’s latest proclamation regarding Gaza and the fate of its denizens. While visiting with Netanyahu, the future of Gaza was framed as an economic redevelopment project, yet Trump has made it clear that such efforts would necessitate stripping the Palestinians of any claim to their homeland. This is certainly a topic I have covered at length on this publication, and these recent developments follow closely what I laid out in my essays (I, II) on the Gazan Genocide and my post-election commentary.
As such, I can’t say I’m too surprised by the rhetoric out of the White House this week.
