Glad you are on board with the LXX now. I came to this conclusion many months ago, and so have several others in my circle of influence. The "KJV-only" celebrity pastors have lost my respect entirely (and you know who they are) because it has taken the "laity", not them, to search this out and expose it. And of course this has monstrous implications for true followers of Christ, for if the jews have perpetrated this gigantic deception, what else have they done? How about fake Dead Sea scrolls? Fake names for God the Father? Is there no end to their lies? https://benbornagain.faith/pages/jesus-or-yeshua?_pos=1&_sid=00a3bda40&_ss=r

fascinating series, thanks for the tables illustrating the discrepancies.

Thanks, Woodward’s book covers many as well.

"The LXX is, and rightly should be, the Christian OT."

After reading this series, I would have to agree. That statement and the Chrysostom quote was a perfect finish to the series.

Due to my focus of study academically I can read OT/NT Greek and OT Hebrew mostly fluently. I found as well that changes have been made. The first I can find is day 2 in the first Chapter of Genesis - notice in our English versions from the MT it doesn't say 'God saw that it was good' on day 2.

It does say 'good' for every day in the LXX.

Of course because Hebrews chapter 10:5 through the Holy Spirit includes the original Psalm 40:6 reading "a body you prepared for me" - instead of the MT ' my ears you have opened" - It proves the TEXT of the MT was changed at Psalm 40:6 because they knew it was so obviously referring to the incarnation of Jesus Christ they couldn't deal with it logically.

The shame is that modern English versions still refuse to include the proper Psalm 40:6 "a body you prepared for me" even though Hebrews 10:5 tells them what the original said. I believe they do this because they want to avoid the issue.

Indeed Chris, the differences start on page 1 and only magnify from there.

The reality too is that many of the Protestant confessions and creeds are wed to the MT as a matter of faith. While they aren’t considered infallible per se, good luck getting ordained or staying that way if you diverge from that.

It is clear from the Samaritan and LXX texts that the Jews had already started futzing with the chronology of Scripture in the 5th century when the Samaritan sect was founded. Likewise, the weird chronologies in the Book of Jubilees and other Essene documents show the Jews of the Roman era were quite willing to force history into artificial cycles. In the paper linked to below (you have to be logged into Academia.edu for it to work) I examined Cullimore's hypothesis that the Jews were altering the chronology to fit their erroneous estimate of precession of 1 degree per century. Cullimore showed that the variances all fell on a line, strongly suggesting he was correct.

Rather than taking a strict LXX is inspired and MT is corrupt viewpoint, I would suggest that Jews introduced different corruptions for different purposes in different eras. Thus the question of the chronogeneologies, which is not directly relevant to the Incarnation of Christ, was an example of the Jews altering scripture to fit the science of their day. While the later MT corruptions were primarily focused on rejecting Jesus Christ and the New Testament.

The fact that Jerome's own letter shows he was clearly aware of deliberate Jewish corruptions of the text, but he translated the Vulgate using the shorter chronogeneological numbers may be due to the time he spent in Antioch with the Jewish Christians. Antioch was spared from the two Jewish wars, and the Christians there are unlikely to have accepted the altered texts from the post-Bar-Kochba period. Jerome preceeded the development of the Masoretes by four centuries. Perhaps we should give him more credit for being able to distinguish between corruptions and the original text.

Excellent expose adding to the overwhelming evidence of fraud and deception. The indictment in Isaiah 1:22 against the children of Abraham..your silver has become dross, you mix good wine with water.

There is no point in bringing this issue up at my Bible study as I can see their eyes rolling over. I appreciate it though, thanks.
